Ready-Start Curriculum

Our staff recognise the importance of children having a confident beginning when they make their big transition to school. We also believe that children need this confidence in a variety of areas. We therefore provide a range of opportunities and experiences that will enable each child to develop confidence in reading, number and maths concepts, language, self-help skills, health and hygiene, problem-solving and working in groups.

We have a School Readiness Plan for each year which ensures the children have a focus on letter and name recognition, counting and number experiences, listening and receptive language as well as pencil and cutting skills, and basic computer skills.

As School draws near, we bring together the children who are going to the same school so friendships and relationships can form. This familiarity is an important stepping stone to a happy introduction to school.

In our Ready-Start programme we focus on specific school readiness areas such as numbers and letters, but also on every learning experience. We attempt to extend every learning opportunity with the child, and make learning natural and a fun experience.

Our main educational aim at our Preschool is to observe the NSW Curriculum Framework and create an environment with a vast array of opportunities and experiences that are suited to the child's interest level and development.
