Our Philosophy
Erina Baptist Preschool is committed to providing a service to families within the community. This commitment emanates from our conviction that:
- Children are special to God
- Children are the most vulnerable in society
- Families and the community can benefit from a Centre that operates on Christian values.
We aim to work to partnership with the parents and care-givers to promote each child's development, thus helping the child to learn:
- to be secure and happy emotionally
- to feel confident and adequate
- to be independent
- to use his/her body skilfully
- to communicate effectively with children and adults
- to develop good relationships with others - sharing, being sensitive, showing compassion, kindness and friendship, and acceptance
- to express himself/herself through language, play, music, movement, craft and art
- to observe, question and organise his/her thinking
- to overcome fears and welcome new experiences
- to develop a happy and wholesome personality
- to self-control aggression and frustration
- to develop self-discipline
- to become self-motivated and enthusiastic about life
- to develop good habits for a healthy life - in hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and attitude
- to develop an understanding of right and wrong, and responsibility
- to encounter and develop a respect for difference - in ability, attitude and background
Through these experiences we aim to extend and complement the home by providing a loving, stable and secure environment in which each child can develop to the fullest potential.
We also believe it is important:
- to ensure a common and consistent approach by all staff
- to employ staff who possess knowledge of developmental needs of children and to support staff in their work through staff development programmes
- to maintain high standards of hygiene, care and nutrition
- to directly involve families in the daily programme of preschool, and to highly value their input
- to provide information about community resources to families
