Accreditations

Our Preschool has a number of Government authorities to which we are accountable.

STATE GOVERNMENT'S DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES

This body licences our Centre on an annual basis.  Children's Services Officers from the Department make spontaneous visits at any time to observe and inspect.  This body administers the Children's Services Regulations which aims to ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children in Prechools. They also ensure that all persons working in the field, are suitable.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S NATIONAL CHILD CARE ACCREDITATION COUNCIL

This body administers a Quality Improvement and Accreditation System which is a mandatory programme for Preschools and Long Day Care Centres. A Validator will visit our Centre and spend two full days observing and evaluating our practices against the approved model. We have 7 main Quality Areas with a comprehensive list of Key Performance Indicators which cover all areas of operation. Of course, quality improvement is an ongoing process and new expectations are always being set.

STATE GOVERNMENT'S NSW OMBUDSMAN

The NSW Ombudsman handles complaints against Community Service providers on matters of the abuse of children.  Rather than waiting for problems to arise, they proactively educate and inform organisations like ours, so the problems hopefully can be prevented.  Last year we had an audit by two officers of this organisation to check our policies and observe our practices in relation to staff and children.
