the importance of play based learning

We look to educate the children in our care based on the most recent research into educational practice. We are always looking to ensure that the education we provide is of an exceptional standard, and is evidence based. What the evidence of years of study into early childhood education shows is that play based learning has significantly improved outcomes for children, not only on an educational basis, but also in terms of their social, emotional and self regulatory skills. Conversely traditional ‘Instructional Learning’ styles (e.g. worksheets, rote learning etc) have been shown to have no upside in terms of intellectual outcomes, and significant downsides in terms of social and emotional outcomes, with children educated with an ‘Instructional Learning’ style reporting significantly higher rates of stress and mental health problems.

Please see this excellent research article from Unicef for more information on why we fully embrace play based learning, and why it will set your child up for their best future - https://www.unicef.org/sites/default/files/2018-12/UNICEF-Lego-Foundation-Learning-through-Play.pdf
